TripAdvisor travel promotion – Spend $150 (through their portal), get $50 back on AmEx

American Express in Australia are running a handy little promotion:

Connect your American Express Card with TripAdvisor & save this offer to your Card to receive a $50 statement credit, when you spend $150 on pre-paid hotels, car hire or experiences at americanexpress.com.au/travel by 31 January 2015.

This offer applies to Australian issued cards, including AmEx cards issued by the big four banks: NAB, Westpac, ANZ and CBA. It does not apply to David Jones Cards, Corporate Cards or Small Business Cards affiliated with a wholesale partner.

The American Express travel portal doesn’t necessarily have the best rates, but the $50 back is is better than a kick in a teeth.

Each TripAdvisor account can only be linked to one AmEx card, and that card must stay linked to receive the credit. While the terms state the credit might come ‘ninety days after the end of the applicable offer period’, our experience is the credit only takes a few days for cards issued directly by AmEx (for credits on cards issued by the big four banks, we are still waiting and will update readers when we receive our credits). To be eligible, you need to sync your card and then save the offer to your card.

Also as a nice additional bonus, if you haven’t previously connected your AmEx card to your TripAdvisor account, you can get a $10 statement credit for posting a short review on TripAdvisor by 31 December 2014.
