Air New Zealand has announced that it will start non-stop flights between Auckland and Houston from December 2015. The airline will use refurbished Boeing 777-200 aircraft, which only have 26 business class seats to operate the route (which will be their longest flight by distance and flight time).

The flights will operate up to five times a week to begin with, although the airline hopes to increase frequency to daily.
Houston is a hub of Star Alliance partner United and so the move allows passengers to enjoy connections to other US destinations.
