Review: Holiday Inn Sydney Darling Harbour

Review: InterContinental Singapore

Singapore has a large number of depressingly middling five star hotels, and we are constantly searching for a property that impresses. The 403 room InterContinental Singapore, located at the Bugis Junction integrated development (office tower, shopping mall and hotel), opened in 1995 and consequently has a very dated feel. This is something not uncommon in Singapore hotels.

Crowne Plaza Canberra

Hotels in Canberra from international brands are hard to find, let alone good ones. There are no Hilton, Starwood or Marriott properties. Hyatt have a property, as do IHG. The Crowne Plaza Canberra is perfectly acceptable, but it is a pretty ordinary hotel. With occasion to go to Canberra, and the calendar year (and therefore the end of the qualifying dates for the IHG Into the Nights promotion rapidly approaching), we decided to stay at the Crowne Plaza Canberra. InterContinental Sydney Double Bay – first look

The hotel at 33 Cross St, Double Bay, Sydney had been sitting empty and in disrepair for some time. It was announced last year that it would be extensively renovated and open as an InterContinental in early 2014. Early 2014 came and went. Finally in November 2014, the hotel opened for guests. Despite the brand name, it is a small hotel at 140 rooms (contrast 509 rooms at the InterContinental in downtown Sydney). Construction adjacent to the property hasn’t yet finished.
